The mid-'90s 900 is solidly built and has good crash protection, 

Equipment is generous.

Top equipment spec on all but cheaper models.

As reliable as the old 900 if looked after

2.3 is the best choice, though the V6 is impressive; 2.0t have good aceleration.

Supportive seats and roomy, the ride quality is the only let-down.

Excellent deadlock system; alarm on SE, immobiliser optional.

Saab 900 2.0i = velour trim, electric mirrors, headlamps wash/wipe. S: height adjustable front seats, adjustable steering wheel, remote tailgate release, split rear seat; SE: traction control, alloys, body-colour bumpers, fog lights, rear spoiler, cruise control; from Sep 97 better side impact protection and revised gear ratios.

Saab 900 SE 2.0t = sports suspension; XS: driving lamps. Convertibles have electric hood, leather seats. Optional Sport pack (alloys, front fog lamps, rear spoiler). Revisions: Sep 96: larger front seats, uprated brakes, heat-absorbent glass (not convertibles), reflective panel.

Saab 900 2.0i S Special Coupe = (Dec 95): green, silver or black metallic paint, alloys, two-tone velour seats.

2.0 S Turbo Special Coupe = (Dec 95):green or silver metallic paint, body-colour bumpers, front fog lights, rear spoiler, two-tone velour.

Saab 900 2.0 S Turbo Sensonic = (May 95): electronic clutch, black paint, colour-coded bumpers, alloy wheels, rear spoiler.

Saab 900 Talladega models = (Jan 97): special alloys, rear spoiler, front fog lights, metallic red, silver or black paint; hatchbacks and convertibles have beige leather upholstery.
